The small house in Moss's view, page 187, was Pelham Cottage, and a century ago was occupied by Master Gunner Ross, father of the late Mr. Thomas Ross, Politician, Councillor, Alderman, Mayor, Justice of the Peace, Chairman of Guardians, Archaeologist, Drawing Master, and Author and Publisher of Hastings Guides, from 6, Castle Street and Claremont.
